CoreNet Global Makes Magic Happen
in Blighted Philadelphia Neighborhood

Magic happened on 21-22 April 2006, when the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of CoreNet Global teamed up with Please Touch Museum for the 2006 CoreNet Global Spring Summit's Community Reinvestment Challenge (CRC). Together the organizations' decided to support two local Parkside community initiatives, the East Parkside Residents' Association (EPRA) and West Parkside Community Recreation Center.

Over the two days, rain or shine, volunteers from CoreNet Global, Please Touch Museum and local residents conducted intense mini-makeovers in Parkside.

Emotions ran high for local participants as the team renovated the kitchen, roof and exterior of the East Parkside Residents' Association Facility, which sat empty for 15 years until local residents, a mother and son team, took over and converted it into a refuge for children in this blighted area.

On the other side of the neighborhood, volunteers at The West Parkside Community Recreation Center, made drastic improvements to the recreation grounds. Each organization offers a variety of programs to keep neighborhood children off the streets and away from drugs and crime after school and on weekends.

Please join us in thanking all of the local companies for their financial and in-kind donations: CoreNet Global extends a special thanks to Karen Randal, Cubellis, for her extraordinary efforts while chairing the Philadelphia Chapter CRC initative.
