Description
London Summit, September 17-19, 2007. SNAP Session D.
Moderator: Helen Butcher, Member, CoreNet Global
Speaker: Clare Shuttleworth, Associate Director, White Young Green
White Young Green (WYG) worked with a leading retailer to benchmark the carbon performance of a new green store against a standard store in order to measure carbon savings. A further objective was to identify changes that could be made to the procurement process and design to further reduce the carbon footprint of new green stores, resulting in a tool addressed to the entire building supply chain.
The carbon calculator tool enables the user to identify the carbon emissions associated with a wide range of materials, activities and construction methods, highlighting the impact that procurement and design decisions have on carbon production.
