Description

Chicago Workplace Discovery Forum, September 18, 2007, Case Study

Presentation on The Future of Work at Capital One (Joel Ratekin, Capital One)

Joel Ratekin, Director of Workplace Strategy at Capital One, shared Capital One?s innovative program to deploy workplace solutions at the firm.

Joel explained that Capital One sees three drivers that are defining the evolution of work and workspace in the future. They are business complexity, workforce needs and emerging enabling technology. The shifting nature of organizational work structures from monolithic to Line of Business-centric to a networked, diversified organizational structure all point to the need for different workplace strategies. A demographic shift is also driving to this point as evidenced by data that highlights a shifting labor paradigm around free agency, flexible work and home sourcing as some illustrative models. The presence of four distinct generations in the current workforce all highlights the issue.
