Hires New V.P. Global Research from Georgia Tech
Former GTRI Senior Scientist Bruce Ellis To Build World-Class Research Function for Premier International Organization of Corporate Real Estate Professionals ATLANTA – Sept. 1, 2004 – Bruce W. C. Ellis has been appointed Vice President, Global Research for CoreNet Global, the world’s leading association for corporate real estate professionals effective today.
According to an announcement by CoreNet Global CEO Peggy Binzel, "Dr. Ellis brings phenomenal abilities and a brilliant track record to this position. He is the ideal candidate for the challenge that awaits him – which is to take an excellent research program and build it to the next level in a mode of both enhancement and expansion.
"Dr. Ellis will direct the development of a fully integrated research model that will allow us to deliver high value products to our members around the world in a real-time, real-world context," she added.
Binzel explained that CoreNet Global has been "very successful at capturing in case study format the most innovative practices used by leading executives in the corporate real estate profession. Dr. Ellis will direct a research program that will move beyond that case study model and address in depth the most critical and pressing issues facing our members. Research products will become available in a wide range of formats, including readily accessible knowledge online," she added.
Prior to joining CoreNet Global, Ellis was a Senior Research Scientist with the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), and principal research investigator for U.S. Department of Defense-funded development of tools and methodologies for strategic planning and implementation of programs ranging from $100 million to $15 billion in scope. From 1999 to 2001, he directed a $3 million collaboration between GTRI and the University of Cambridge (England) on developing similar methodologies for the aerospace industry.
Ellis has also served as a management consultant on portfolio optimization, financial planning, acquisition and divestiture decisions and global market and competitive analysis for multinational corporations across a broad range of industry sectors encompassing both products and services.
He has a Ph.D. in Manufacturing Engineering and Management from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, England; and an MBA (Masters of Science degree) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, Mass., where he was appointed a Sloan Fellow. He is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Boston, where he earned a B.S. degree in biology.
