Today, emphasis has expanded to include proof of performance - how innovative design and development strategies are actually changing the organization's operations to become more environmentally sustainable.
These awards seek to honor leadership in -
1. Sustainable Design
Recognizing design/client teams whose commercial buildings integrate sustainability practices with design excellence while meeting the organization's objectives for the project
Eligibility: A commercial project built after 2004 and occupied for at least six months.

2. Sustainable Development
Recognizing organizations whose operations reflect coherent and comprehensive sustainability policies
Eligibility: Programs developed or enhanced after 2004
Organizations whose policies and strategies have not only been integrated into the organization, but also have had a measurable impact on operations.
This category is not for building design.
In addition, the awards in this division seek to recognize those organizations who have worked to improve sustainability within or beyond their industry.
