How to Get Involved

Getting Involved

One of the key success measures for our Workplace Community (CGWC) will be based upon our member's participation and involvement. Expending energy in any enterprise creates buy-in and creates a demand for improvement. The CGWC is still very much in its formative stages and is experiencing a steep growth curve resulting from the widespread interest globally in the subject and the absence of any other marketplace of ideas, learning etc. We believe that the continued success of the program lies in the attraction of good people and our ability to involve them in meaningful activities and fully leveraging technology. We therefore welcome your interest and would like to get you involved.

How do I learn about the Community?

While browsing the site you may want to check out our upcoming events and the previous newsletter. If you are a CoreNet Global member you will have access to the CGWC developed presentations created by our subject mater experts. Within the website you can browse from our rich diversity of material which is being added to daily. In 2008 we will be expanding our website to allow for more interaction and engagement.

How can I get exposed to the Knowledge Content?
  • Participate in Knowledge Content Webinars (see upcoming events for details).
  • Chapter meetings: Increasingly chapter meetings will embrace content from the Workplace
  • Community and feature presentations of material developed within the Community or speakers attracted to it.
  • Global Summits, we will have Workplace Community orientated content and special meetings and gatherings for Community members
  • Discovery Forums: These intensive sessions will provide total immersion in a specific workplace related subject.
How can I actively participate?

1. Operations
Our Operational Team is designed to enhance the goals of the Community by building an operational infrastructure. The Operational Committees include: Events, Membership, Research, Communication, Knowledge Management, Education and Awards/Recognition. Currently, we are building the sub-committees as well as seeking volunteers, contact Kate North at kate.north@ideationgroup.org to discuss your interests and the areas of expertise.

2. Knowledge Content
The knowledge of the organization is being added to daily by very small teams of experts convening around a subject of mutual interest and developing content (papers, presentations, videos etc.) for which they are then credited and made available to Community members. The formation and dissolution of these teams is a continuous process. Currently there are eight teams at work. Once teams are chartered and off and running it is wise to let them run and not continuously add new blood which may change the chemistry and will certainly add to the complexity of meeting logistics. Instead, we would like to encourage new teams to form.

How to establish a new team
  • Contact Chris Hood (Chris.Hood@hp.com) to discuss your interest and he will help you build a team and identify an are a of study which is part of an aligned build-up of community knowledge and practice
  • Chris Hood to brief the team on objectives and outcomes and help charter the work
  • Present the scope of the team and areas of study to the Communities advisory Board
  • Go for it
