Greening the Bottom Line:
Making Sustainability Count

The trend toward taking the Triple Bottom Line approach to business continues to accelerate, and we have reached the tipping point – sustainability of people, planet and profit is now a mandate for multi-national companies operating in a global economy.

The mainstreaming of sustainability expectations across Europe, however, is not the end of the story. New questions have emerged – to what extent have our efforts made a difference, not only for the environment and our communities, but also for our companies and nations' economies? How can we measure our impact? What are the economics of sustainable workforces, green buildings, and consistently profitable enterprises?

The 2007 CoreNet Global Summit, London, examined these questions and the continued acceleration of sustainability practice across Europe and beyond our borders, in the context of workplace strategy and integrated infrastructure management. We explored sustainability in the broadest possible sense – from ensuring the continuous availability of the right talent, in the right place at the right time (a sustainable workforce) to strategies for mitigating the devastating effects of rising energy prices (sustainable buildings and workplaces).
