General Session I:
Opening Keynote Speaker

Bjorn Lomborg Ph.D
Bjørn Lomborg Ph.D.
Author and Leading Expert on Global Sustainability

Cool It:
How You Should Tackle Global Warming

As we consider sustainability for people, planet and profit in the context of property, our enterprises and our personal lives, our viewpoints expand from environmental concerns to population issues and beyond. Where should we focus our efforts and why?

Bjørn Lomborg will challenge widely held beliefs and address the most serious challenges facing the world today. He will systematically examine today's most important global crises issues, focusing on climate change, but putting it in perspective with regards to the many other concerns such as communicable diseases, conflicts and education. He will argue what should - and should not be - our first priorities, offering sustainable solutions. Bjorn will inspire us to question and the status quo and the popular approaches to addressing global warming and building a more sustainable world.

Bjørn Lomborg is recognized and acclaimed around the world. Bjørn Lomborg was named one of the 100 globally most influential people by Time magazine in April 2004. Foreign Policy and Prospect Magazine had him listed as the world's 14th most influential intellectual in October 2005. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Copenhagen Business School and directors the Copenhagen Consensus Center. He has authored several books, including Global Crisis, Global Concerns and The Skeptical Environmentalist, and his latest book Cool It.

New expectations for corporate real estate to align workplace strategy with aggressive corporate goals for sustainable approaches to people, planet and profit are proving challenging, particularly in Europe where there is strong interest in moving beyond the basics. How are leading-edge corporate real estate leaders responding to this challenge?

A panel of corporate real estate executives and subject-matter experts will share best practices and guidelines for success. Specific examples will be shared for each of the three elements of the triple bottom line - people, planet and profit. The session will close with a practical discussion about immediate opportunities for making a difference in the board room and on the triple bottom line.

General Session III:
Closing Speaker

Pen Hadow
Pen Hadow
Polar Explorer, Environmentalist, Author

Climate Change:
A Pole-to-Pole Reality

Pen Hadow made history in 2003 when he completed the first solo journey, without re-supply, from Canada to the North Geographic Pole - a feat comparable to the first solo ascent of Everest without oxygen. This solo feat has not been repeated.

Few have spent as much time in the high Arctic ocean as Pen Hadow. He has watched the gradual thinning of the North Pole ice cap with growing dismay over the past two decades. He speaks from first hand experience of the changes in wildlife and the ice cap that he has observed. With the total disappearance of the North Pole ice cap predicted by some scientists within the next fifteen years, Pen is uniquely qualified to bridge the communications gap between the scientists, policy-makers and the general public. Pen works closely with the world's foremost research organisations focused on global climate change, most notably NASA, the European Space Agency, and Cambridge University. He now dedicates his energies to his Arctic Ocean Foundation, which will focus exclusively on the research, education and protection of this unique, little understood and vulnerable environment. "Unlike Antarctica which is protected by treaty, the high Arctic is open to exploitation and needs friends," he says.

At this session, Pen will give an unusual and stirring first-hand account of what "global climate change" is all about - and the numerous very serious geo-political consequences it will create.
